Drama in the classroom



  • Various entries into drama

I /Warm up
1-    Name and movement
-Learners will be asked to tell their names through body movements without being allowed to use words.
II/Adverb activity
-Learners will be divided into groups, each group will be asked to choose an action, and then perform it in the way the adverb they chose describes. The remaining groups will guess the adverb the group members are miming.
-This activity may be done through flash cards: Learners will be provided with flash cards showing adverbs and will be asked to perform actions in the way the adverb describes. Their colleagues will guess what the adverb is.


III/Creating a story through a character’s bag
-You take out of a bag an object and ask learners to guess to whom it belongs. Then learners will be led to create a character, give it a name, and imagine events that would happen or would have happened. They will be guided by questions about the character’s age – gender – social class – job/occupation….
IV/Role- play for conflict resolution
-Learners will be referred back to “Cinderella” and her reaction each time she was aggressed by her step-sisters, then a volunteer will be asked to play the role of Cinderella and another to play the role of a step-sister improvising an act where Cinderella decides to take action and stick up for her rights.
