To make your children eat healthy food you ought to make them love healthy food.To make them love eating healthy food you could tell them bedtime stories about healthy food. Here is a bedtime story about healthy eating.
It was a nice Sunday afternoon. Alan was hanging around with some friends in a nearby park . They were basking under the sun, licking ice-cream and eating some chips. They saw an overweight man sitting on a bench.
Alfred said;"How fat this man looks!"
"I hope I won't be as fat as him when I grow up." Added Ian
"His belly is hiding his knees." Whispered Ana.
The fat man did a quick movement forwards as if he was trying to leave the bench. He was bending with both legs and a cane he clutched with both hands and was struggling to dig in the ground as if he needed a third leg to help him stand up. Suddenly,the man fell down with his back on the ground.Alan and his friends couldn't help laughing at him A young man was jogging in the park and saw the scene. He shouted at them:"Come on! Stop laughing and help me. let's try to make him stand up."
At that moment, the friends realized how naughty they were towards that fat man. They run to help and apologized immediately.
Once on his feet, the man thanked them and said" to be grateful for what you did with me I can't let you go without providing you with some precious advice. I was really upset when I saw your mocking looks but you showed you are civilized kids after apologizing."
"If you don't want to become fat, you will have to follow my advice.
- Avoid eating sweets or junk food and snacks between meals such as the ice-cream and chips you have been eating.
-Eat healthy food such as fruit and vegetables, cereals, and nuts instead.
-Practice sport at least twice a week. I also advise you to play team games.
-Don't watch TV or play computer games for long hours. Believe me, that's the worst habit a child can get used to."
He smiled and teased the children adding; "After the scene you have just witnessed, I don't think you will ignore my tips. I was a spoiled kid and my parents gave me more pocket money than I needed. I used to spend it all on sweets and snacks. When it was time for lunch or dinner, I was always unable to eat the healthy food my Mum carefully prepared for us."
Alan and his friends thanked the man and took leave. Then, they agreed on following his advice.
-"Some snacks may be crunchy and very yummy.However they usually are very salty or sugary and sometimes fatty which is absolutely unhealthy so we should eat them sparingly. Shouldn't we?" Said Ana.
"I totally agree and I suggest that we start having healthier snacks at break times such as carrots, apples or oranges . Why don't we start climbing the stairs at home and at school instead of taking the lift ?"Replied Ian.
Alfred said:"Greedy as I know myself, I'd rather start my healthy diet with drinking mineral water or fresh fruit juice instead of soda ans fizzy drinks. I promise that I'll walk or cycle to school. It isn't very far away from home after all. I'll join the local football team too."
"To be the wisest, I'll try to do all these things together. I liked all the tips of our friend in the park and I really don't want to repeat his experience."Said Alan " Why don't you all give it a try?"
"Yes we will."Replied the friends enthusiastically.
